The Best Business Blogs Every Business Owner Should Be Reading

There are millions of blogs that you can find around business. Most of them aren’t worth your time reading. Following are 10 blogs that are worth reading and might help you run a better business.

The Best Business Blogs To Read

#1: QUORA

If you are not a subscriber to Quora do so right now. It is that valuable. Quora is a Q&A site where experts take the time to answer your questions. You can follow topics like “entrepreneurship”, “startups”, “marketing” or anything to do with business.

There are people both famous and not so famous who use Quora. People like Mark Zuckerberg, Gary Vaynerchuk, Mark Cuban, Gordon Miller, Brad Silverberg, and Marissa Mayer.

Answers get voted up by the community so that only the best ones shine. Here’s a good example below.

Fast Company’s byline is “the future of business.” It’s hard to argue about their success with over 1,837,917 visitors a month to their website. Blog posts found here are full of small business case studies, industry influencers, and technology trends. There is also a vast collection of free business videos, news articles, and other references from successful business owners and entrepreneurs.

Fast Company divides its blog into other categories as well. The Fast Company “Tech” category focuses on applications, gadgets, services, and anything that is coming soon or new.

The “Work-Life” section provides case studies of successes and failures. This is along with career advice, the future of work, and productivity hacks and tips.

The “Creativity” section highlights innovations in advertising, entertainment, and pop culture.

Finally, “Impact” covers big ideas and how they are changing the world. The Fast Company blog gives you a snapshot of the world, what’s trending, what’s working, and what’s on the horizon.

#4: THOUGHTS FROM THE FRONTLINE

Written by John Maudlin, Thoughts From the Frontline is a blog for investors and business owners who want to understand trends, markets, and the global economy. John Mauldin is one of the most successful writers in the world with well over 6,000,000 million subscribers! That’s not a misprint!

Thoughts from the Frontline is also one of the first free publications to offer advice to individual investors. It is now the most widely distributed investment advice publication in the world.

John Mauldin, a best-selling author, analyst, and financial writer is a graduate of Rice University in Houston. He has been a longtime resident of Dallas (and an avid Dallas Mavericks fan and season ticket holder) and now resides in Peurto Rico.  John has dedicated more than 30 years to teaching and advising people about investing. He has written four investment books that have all made it to the New York Times Bestseller List.

There is a lot to learn from every blog post that John Mauldin writes. His blog posts are published every Saturday and anticipated by millions of people who read and devour what John writes. You will find his articles very informative and thought-provoking. John has a way of writing that engages you where you don’t feel like your reading a technical paper. Though this is #4 on this list, it is #1 in my book.

#5: RICHARD BRANSON

Richard Branson is a person with a brand all on its own.

Richard is someone we all want to emulate. We want his lifestyle, his money, and his success. He is undoubtedly one of the most inspirational and quoted business people in the world. Look at just a few of his quotes:

“Fun is one of the most important — and underrated ingredients in any successful venture. If you’re not having fun, then it’s probably time to call it quits and try something else.”

“Being a good listener is absolutely critical to being a good leader; you have to listen to the people who are on the front line.”

“Treat failure as a lesson on how not to approach achieving a goal, and then use that learning to improve your chances of success when you try again. Failure is only the end if you decide to stop.”

“A good leader doesn’t get stuck behind a desk.”

“One thing is certain in business. You and everyone around you will make mistakes.”

There is a lot more to Richard Branson than feel-good marketing quips for successful business owners or entrepreneurs.

In his blog, you can delve into the mindset of one of the most prosperous innovators in the world. Every blog post contains the story behind the end result of an extremely successful career.

If you ever need to see the light at the end of the tunnel, this is the place to be inspired to keep going — especially if you want to understand the logic behind it.
